I knew I was weird, but...
PBS has a website you can use to determine how common your surname is in America. I searched for my married name, my maiden name, my mother’s maiden name, and my mother-in-law’s maiden name. Not one of theses made the top 55,000 most common American surnames!
I guess we’re a weird bunch.
The other option would be that our ancestors were creative spellers and that most other people with their surnames spelled them differently when they arrived. Take your pick.
In craft news, I packed away a lot of yarn that I’d picked up from garage sales this past season. Now that I have sufficient wool covers (and felted wool sweaters) to cover diapers until John gains another five or more pounds, I’ve lost interest in knitting. I didn’t realize how much yarn I had until I packed it up - sigh - it really does pay to be organized.

Wow. I always thought I had a pretty unique name, but all of your names are at least twice as rare.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I've got two in the top 100 (numbers 63 and 100, actually). Since they're so popular, I'm not afraid to say them :) My mom maiden name is 68, but my MIL's is 49,000+ -- no wonder she kept it!
Of course, my maiden name is number 3 in Minnesota, I think, so I grew up with two in most of my classes of 25 kids.
I got an IKEA drawer thingy for my business yarn and Dan was so happy to have all the bins and boxes around the house disappear.

Interesting!! My maiden name is # 3742, but my married name isn't even in the database! I didn't realize my maiden name is as common as it is, although having a building at Tech with the same name should have been a clue :).
